26DA026 Russell (Formerly 26SC026) is the Dx Adventure Radio Club’s newest member from the United Kingdom, hailing from the county of Kent in southeast England.
A former front line in several conflicts, including the Battle of Britain during World War II, Russell’s famous QTH borders East Sussex, Surrey and Greater London and has a defined boundary with Essex in the middle of the River Thames estuary. These days, however, it is affectionately nicknamed ‘The Garden of England’ because of its abundance of orchards and hop gardens.
One of Europe’s most conquering and highly regarded DXers, Russell easily satisfies the DX Hunter classification for DA-RC membership (See http://www.delta-alfa.com/about/become-a-member/ ) with 237 DXCC entities in the bank.
Nicknamed the Kamikaze DXer by some (kami is the word for ‘god’, ‘spirit’, or ‘divinity’ and kaze for ‘wind’) because of his ‘never-say-die’ mind-set and perseverance in the face of a challenge, 26DA026 Russell is also experienced in the field of DXpedition work. In fact, DA-RC’s newest member has already contributed notably to the IOTA DXpedition landscape for his new club by assisting with 26DA/KE-001 Sheppey Island and 26DA/KE-007 Harty Island, as well as the 14DA/LB commemorative activity with good mates 14DA012 Herve, 14DA028 Phil and 14DA024 Fabrice.
In addition to chasing DX from the comfort of his home shack, 26DA026 Russell loves going portable from vantage points such as the White Cliffs of Dover where other DXstinations such as 14 Division can be seen clearly in fine WX.
Like most DA-RC members, 26DA026 Russell usually finds the right balance between radio time and outdoor leisure pursuits, often swapping the handheld mic of his IC-735 transceiver for a fishing rod to chase carp in the waterways around Kent such as the Elphicks Lakes in Horsmonden, the Horsham Lake in Upchurch and the Monk lakes in Marden, which are known to produce a large catch.
On behalf of everyone, welcome to the club, Russ. We are all very pleased to have you on board. Enjoy your new Delta-Alfa callsign!

Hi 26DA026 Russ!
Strong propagation your report in jn77pc 5/9, and sometimes so strong that the s-meter needle sounds “klack-klack-klack-klack. . . . .” in the right corner of the s-meter. ….
Thank you very much for this contact.
