Picture8According to the ARLHS, the purpose of a LOTA activation is:

  • To promote public awareness of the role radio and light beacons have played in assisting and maintaining safety at sea;
  • To preserve the heritage and history of lighthouses and lightships; and……..
  • To aid in preserving those lights in danger of destruction or decay.

Essentially, the DA-RC observes these same objectives, in addition to our own which is to promote the LOTA concept on the 11m band.

punta-pechigueraThe working conditions for these heart-stopping LOTA opportunities will comprise a Kenwood TS480 SAT transceiver with an MC-60 microphone + 2 antennas.
