*Meet* 13DA013 Martin

The Federal Republic of Germany in EU is home to Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) Member 13DA013 Martin who signed on with our Club in December 2016.

Martin is one of his country’s best known 11m DXers — a guy who has made significant contributions to a number of clubs over a period spanning some 30 years.

He is an ex-Sugar Delta HQ and Founding member (13SD001), for instance, and a past Coordinator with Alfa Tango (13AT089).

As well as possessing extensive experience in DX Club Leadership (See DA-RC Membership criteria), Martin is also experienced in dx adventure.

He has operated from a number of DXCC, some of which include Egypt (117), Tanzania (83), Cuba (88), Dodecanese Islands (59), Tunisia (147) and Crete Island (90).

13DA013 Martin has a massive 286 DXCC worked and confirmed, putting him in the top echelon of DX Hunters in the world’s 11m DX Community.

St_Georg_MarlHis 4 element yagi antenna remains a “weapon of mass destruction” and together with a Kenwood TS590 transceiver this ensures his signal is always one of the loudest on 27 MHz frequencies when the propagation is in.

In Western Europe, 13DA013 Martin resides in the town of Marl, a municipality in the district of Recklinghausen, in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Marl (Name meaning “marshy range”) is situated near the Wesel-Datteln Canal, roughly 10 km north-west of Recklinghausen.  It reportedly has a population of around 90,000 people.

Approximately 60% of the total town area are fields, woods, watercourses, parks and other green areas.

According to Google Earth, the town adjoins in the north to the woodlands of the Haard and the natural park Hohe Mark.

Popular tourist attractions in proximity to Martin’s QTH include St George’s Church, the closed Auguste Victoria mine shafts, the Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten and various nature reserves.
