*DX HUNTER AWARD* Indonesian Islands

91 Islands Award Sample

Indonesia (91 Division) is the fourth largest DXCC in the world.

It comprises some 18,000 islands in a 5200-kilometre-long archipelago, 6000 of which are inhabited.  It is without doubt the most exciting IOTA hot spot in world 11m and ham communications.

Indonesia’s islands are home to gorgeous beaches, stunning volcanoes, some of the world’s best diving destinations and exotic cultures.  Plus of course some of the most avid 11m/CB radio operators there is.

Operators on islands such as Sumatra, Bali, Timor and Java are QRV with some regularity on 27 frequencies.

Others on lesser known isles such as Sulawesi, Papua and Borneo pop up from time to time for short bursts of 27 MHz frequency DX.

According to reputable database ‘Islands Base Online’ (IBO), only 34 Indonesian islands have been claimed by  the world’s 11m Island Hunters in the past 15 years from 25 RSGB recognised IOTA groups/references.

The comprehensive list compiled by the DA-RC is below…
