Mentor Program
The Role of Mentor
DA-RC Mentors educate (inform, teach, instruct, coach and up skill) members on a ‘needs basis only’ by way of mentoring around those issues relatable to the Club and its known goals. Mentors associated with the Dx Adventure Radio Club are appointed to individual members where matters of need, however big or small, could include:
- New member assimilation
- Upgrade membership entry classification
- All aspects of DXpedition preparation and planning
- Product advice and information (pre and post purchase)
- Technical support (antenna construction, transceiver repair/modifications, etc.)
- Study for ham license
Who Are DA-RC Mentors?
DA-RC Mentors are suitably qualified persons who represent one or more of the 5 ‘Entry Classifications’ (DX Chaser, DX Leadership, DXpedioner, Honorary and Short Wave Listener). They consist of radio engineers, retail outlet owners, product representatives, licensed hams, journalists, experienced DXpedition adventurers, DX Hunters, and others who are dedicated to both improving members’ competencies and the betterment of radio communications in general. Currently, the Club has 5 mentors participating in the program with skills, experience and knowledge matching each of the above areas.
How the Mentoring Process Works
Mentors communicate with members via email, telephone, online forums or by written correspondence where necessary. The frequency and depth of assistance is determined by both parties on initial contact.
Becoming a Mentor
Current Mentors with DA-RC attest to the role providing them with an extremely rewarding experience – one that requires minimal time and effort, yet has a positive impact on the enjoyment of others.
How Can I Enrol in the Program?
