The Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) is excited to introduce to you 45DA101 Dejan from the Republic of Serbia.

An experienced ham radio op and keen 11m DX buff, Dejan balances his DA-RC membership since late October 2013 with a lengthy association with Benat Radio International DX Group Serbia.

In fact, the QRZ 45BR120 will not only be known on 27 MHz frequencies by many guys across the globe but also to surfers of the internet whom may have seen Dejan’s homepage at https://sites.google.com/site/45br120/Home .

On HF frequencies, 45DA101 Dejan is an enthusiastic and profitable DX Hunter; one whom enjoys celebrating his “new ones” on Facebook with radio mates.

In addition to pursuing islands (IOTA), lighthouses (LOTA) and summits on the air (SOTA) on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 and 11m, Dejan also values working on 2m, Packet, PSK31, RTTY and VHF.  He also likes contesting, county hunting and is a long time short wave listening (SWL) enthusiast.

Luckily for Dejan, Serbia is one of the less common DXCC.  TPancevohis guarantees he’s always a highly sought after contact — regardless of the band.

A landlocked country located at the crossroads of Central and Southeast Europe, this fascinating DXCC covers the southern part of the Pannonian Plain and the central Balkans.  Borders with Hungary (109 Division) to the north, Romania (233) and Bulgaria (178) to the east, Macedonia (332) and Albania (251) through the disputed territory of Kosovo to the south, and Croatia (328), Bosnia (331) and Montenegro (344) to the west, Dejan’s country is the perfect springboard for DXpedition work into some of Europe’s most sought after DXCC.

Photographic evidence suggests that the city of Pančevo where 45DA101 Dejan lives, on the banks of the Danube and Tamiš rivers, is home to one impressive radio comms set-up and while Dejan describes himself as a modest DXer, the quality of his station ensures he’s able to capitalize on any openings which might occur on any band — that’s if he can prize the microphone away from his son who’s also a keen DXer!

As you can see, Yaesu and President Lincoln transceivers are prominent features on the shack bench top, with an abundance of test equipment nearby including antenna tuners, SWR and watt meters, Zetagi amps and more.

Interestingly, the DA-RC’s second Serbian member behind 45DA007 Nem also owns a Rockwell Collins PRC-515 military rig.  This is an ex-Yugoslav People’s Army HF/SSB radio station manufactured for combat use by RIZ Zagreb factory.

Balloon-supported antennas, dipoles, a 4 element yagi and a Sirio 5/8 wave S-12 vertical make certain his signal always packs a punch too.

Away from the exciting world of DX, 45DA101 Dejan prefers spending time with his family and friends.  He’s a fan of swimming, football and cycling too and these subjects feature strongly amongst those covered in any QSO with him across the bands.
