eeeeeIn the U.K.’s northernmost country, 108DA147 Kenny’s involvement with the Dx Adventure Radio Club (DA-RC) tees off in December 2017.

The DA-RC Directory confirms that Kenny lives on the west coast of Scotland on the island of Great Britain (EU-005) surrounded by the bracing waters of the North Sea to the east, and the North Atlantic Ocean to the west and north.

41In3XRRjfLFormerly known on the 11m band as 108KG001, Kenny is an accomplished DX Hunter and a keen contester, a reputation forged through more than 20 years involvement in radio communications.

The omnidirectional capabilities of a 5/8λ Sirio 827 base antenna which towers above his lot in 108 Division ensure his audio is well heard on international call frequencies and others, including the popular Wednesday night Net administered by members of the DA-RC.

Photo-1206Not only is 108DA147 Kenny a successful and professional radio operator, but he’s also a talented golfer — a sport which has been part of the sporting landscape in Scotland since the early 15th century when King James II banned the game by Act of Parliament in 1457 .

Far from being a part time hacker, Kenny attacks the greens and fairways off a handicap of 10.

Slider239-366x240In the eternal quest for golf’s holy grail — a hole in one — 108DA147 Kenny enjoys challenging himself on some of his country’s finest golf courses.  These occur along the stretch of Ayrshire coast from West Kilbride in the north of the county down to Girvan in the south.

Dunbar-GCThree Open Championship courses, wonderfully welcoming old links layouts with pot bunkers, fast undulating greens and burns winding through them, new championship courses and great quality public courses make up an almost continuous stretch of golfing coastline perhaps unique anywhere in the world.

eeeWhen he’s not chasing balls on the greens, climbing out of water hazards or sand bunkers or chilling in the shack behind the mic of his Yaesu FT-450D transceiver, 108DA147 Kenny is heavily involved in the junior sporting career of his son who is a champion amateur boxer.

Cheering on ringside is a different sort of adrenalin rush to extreme dx adventure, though, nonetheless it’s one which clearly matches the sense of achievement one might experience in sinking a long putt for birdie or chipping in from a bunker.

Kenny is active across the band and is happy to confirm any contacts made on the 11m band!
